Education
The mission of the Department of Education at Mercyhurst University is to develop teachers who are intellectually and spiritually sensitive, professionally and socially responsible; namely, those who seek to bring out those same qualities in their own students. To accomplish this mission, our teacher education program must enable pre-service teachers to help their students grow in intellectual curiosity, self-confidence, knowledge, responsibility, and interpersonal relationships.
Undergradute degrees are offered in middle childhood, secondary, early childhoood, and special education. Degrees are also available for those who choose to pursue a degree teaching art, business, world languages like Spanish or French, as well as music.
College graduates can continue their studies with our master degrees in special education and secondary education, or study Applied Behavior Analysis for graduate studies.
